Finally getting round to putting this interview up, only about 3 months late! things have been a bit busy round here so the Blogs been a tad neglected....
We got the chance to chat with with DJ, sneaker sage and all round nice guy Kish Kash. (only moments after CNN left his house after filming him) about music, clothes and of course trainers...
So lets get this one out the way as I’m sure you have been asked this many times! what was your favourite kicks of 2016?
Thats a big question, there was so many! The Nike Spiridon for starters was up there, Hypebeasts would say the NMD’S which are of course dope, but for me the best piece of footwear this past year has been the New Balance 991.5, which is just an all out incredible shoe.
You have been involved in working with some huge brands in the past like 10 Deep, Mishka, Staple and even helping bring Jason Markk sneaker cleaner to the UK, can you give some advice to young brands trying to come up (i.e. us guys)
The main things are to identify as to what your brands ethos is, then get together your core team all of whom complementing each others skills, make it the cool thing amongst all your mates, the slow burn is the best long term, and always be constantly be evolving the brand.
OK, you have been doing your thing on The All Hip Hop Show which features on Soho Radio for some time, which artists are blowing up in your setlist right now from both sides of the pond?
For me personally right now its all about that gritty NY sound Griselda Records are putting out, with artists such as Westside Gunn and Conway The machine, I bump Kendrick, Schoolboy Q etc and all that great stuff, but that gritty and raw stuff, thats my shit! I keep trying to cop those limited vinyls on Daupe but they sell out in seconds!
Also Hus Kingpin, Ka and all things produced by the Alchemist, as for the UK Jehst, Skepta is on fire right now, Giggs album was incredible! and Pro Green is always doing his thing.
Any projects that your are involved in would you like to chat about?
I was in Dubai mid November for Sole DXB, where I was British ambassador with Dan Greenpeace that was just incredible, also my roles at Sneakerpedia and Sole Heaven where I’m still involved. Also loads more good stuff which I’ll be speaking more about soon, and of course the All City Show!
Give Kish Kash a follow on his various social media accounts (be prepared for an insane dose of sneaker envy though!)
And don't forget to tune in weekly to The All City Radio Show:
